Description
This is a BEAUTIFUL wood bowl hand turned on a lathe by Aaron Thomas of Thomas Fine Woodworks, painted with genuine oxidizing metallic paint and then patina'd with a catalyzing oxidizer that causes the metal to patina in blues and greens giving it a striking appearance unmatched by anything you've ever seen before. It is unique, it is art and functional.
This is what is known as a twice-turned bowl, this means that Aaron cut his bowl blank from locally sourced, sustainably acquired wood that came down because of natural causes such as a storm or had to be taken down by the city because of damage or threat to property. The bowl is turned on a wood lathe, boiled and then dried for 1-2 years. Once the rough turned bowl has seasoned the bowl is then put back on a lathe and turned again to its final dimension. This bowl was turned and then painted with an amazing reactive/oxidizing metallic paint with genuine bronze. The surface is then sprayed by hand with a safe solution that oxidizes the bronze metal in the paint to create this beautiful and boastfully blue patina that gives the appearance of aged and weathered bronze.
A perfect decorative bowl for the dining room table, coffee table, kitchen or shelf in your living room, bedroom or study/office. A one-of-a-kind handmade piece of wood art to bring joy to its owner for years to come.
